Avoiding Yoga Injuries
When practicing yoga, it is important to be mindful of and work within your physical limitations. You should have a full understanding of the technique involved in each pose in yoga which require a balance of strength and flexibility. You should work to improve your mastery of the poses within your physical boundaries and listen to your body; do not push through “bad” pain. If you do not understand what muscles are to be used for each pose, then ask the instructor for assistance! I have definitely seen non-catastrophic injuries occur in people who push aggressively beyond their natural limit. Technique is key! Mastery of the poses is within your physical limits, not what your neighbor or instructor does!!
